2025 Feb – Change in Class Duration and Format

For all our Certificate Programme classes from 1 Apr 2025 onwards

New Class Duration

2.5 hour session to 2 hour session

All our Certificate Programme classes will have their class duration reduced from 2.5 hours to 2 hours. This includes:

Original Format

Completion of 8 sessions x 2.5 hours (20 hours) for one level before CSARC test.

New Format (from 1 Apr 2025)

Completion of 10 sessions x 2 hours (20 hours) for one level before CSARC test.

New Class Schedule

With the change in class duration, our class schedule will be updated as follows. Do check out the course pages for course specific schedules.

New Class Format

Self-paced class completion

For our Inventor Certificate Programme (Arduino) and Data Analyst Certificate Programme (Python), there will be an improvement in the way class sessions can be booked.

Original Format

  • Fixed 4 session x 2.5 hour class booking
  • e.g. Arduino 101: Sat 9.30am to 12pm, 4 sessions
  • Make up class session needs to be specially arranged.
  • Additional revision/practice class sessions need to be specially arranged.
  • Students who are more proficient are not able to progress faster; kept in lockstep with the fixed class format.

New Format (from 1 Apr 2025)

  • Flexible 2 hour class booking – do not have to stick to same time slot every week.
  • Make up or revision classes can be easily booked based on available classes.
  • Students who are more proficient are able to progress faster, may require fewer sessions to complete one level.

FAQs

The biggest push for us to implement these changes was because we wanted to allow for a self paced programme: you complete the course because you have shown understanding on the various topics, not because you sat through the required number of hours for the programme. We all have different learning styles and learning pace, our curriculum execution has to take this as our prime consideration.

The reduction in class duration is for us to better align our Certificate Programmes with our Foundation Programmes (1 hour and 2 hour sessions). This will make it easier for parents to enrol their children into different programmes in the same time slot.

Do reach out to us and we will provide suggestions on how to best utilise your course packages. In some cases we can help to combine / transfer your course package hours so that you do not have any odd hour remaining. Any remaining course package hours can also be used to offset our Competition Training / Portfolio programmes.

For now we are keeping our competition training classes at 2.5 hour training sessions. However this is dependent on individual competitiion events and we will update our competition students when we send out the competition invite.
