We will be transitioning to the LEGO Education SPIKE App 3 for our Robotics Certificate Programme on 1 April 2025. While this software version is not necessarily “new” since it came out on 1 Dec 2022, there are a few reasons why we have held off on transitioning our curriculum to use SPIKE App 3.

1. Previously the SPIKE App system was undergoing a few major updates and we wanted to wait a while to see if there was going to be other changes happening before we roll out changes to our curriculum.
2. SPIKE App 3 while promising “more precise motor behavior, and simplified motor and movement blocks” actually removed the most useful and intuitive motor movement blocks.

Given that the SPIKE App 3 has gone through a few updates and is stable, we have decided to move forward with the transition. This will also allow our students to be familiar with the SPIKE App 3 platform which is more commonly used now.

To ease the transition for our students, we will be running a SPIKE App 3 conversion class for our current Robotics Certificate Programme students to allow them to familiarise with the new programming blocks.

• Parents do not need to book a separate SPIKE App 3 conversion class session, we will be keeping track on the conversion class status for each individual student on our end.
• Parents can book classes as usual, if your child is currently doing RCP Beginner level, continue to book RCP Beginner classes.
• We will administer the conversion class session from 1 Apr 2025 onwards. The first booked class session from 1 Apr onwards will be used as the SPIKE App 3 conversion class.
