Using Scratch by MIT
Embark on a creative coding journey with Scratch by MIT! This beginner-friendly course introduces kids aged 8-10 to the world of programming through fun, interactive projects and games. Across two levels, students will learn how to think like a programmer, design animations, and create their own games, all using Scratch’s colorful drag-and-drop interface!
Level 2 ends with an exciting capstone project where kids develop their very own original game idea. Perfect for sparking creativity and building a strong coding foundation!

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, students will:

Scratch Game Creator Course Overview
There are a total of 2 progressive levels (20 modules) to complete this programme:
- Scratch Game Creator Level 1 (10 modules – 10 sessions x 2 hours)
- Scratch Game Creator Level 2 (10 modules – 10 sessions x 2 hours) [Released in 2026]
Class progression is flexible, based on individual competency. Students with prior Scratch/Coding experience may require fewer than 10 sessions to complete one level. Similarly students who are weaker in certain topics may require more sessions for hands-on practice.
Scratch Game Creator: Level 1
Total 10 modules over 10 sessions x 2 hours

Creating simple movement animations with angles and coordinates
Incorporating arrow key movements with scoring elements
Scratch Game Creator: Level 2
Total 10 modules over 10 sessions x 2 hours

✅ Program games with multiple scoring objectives and termination conditions
✅ Plan, design, and build an original game from scratch for student portfolio

Keep the Learning Going!
Students who complete Scratch Game Creator Programme Level 1 and 2 will be eligible to participate in IDE Series: IDE Code Builder competition! Students will code based on a series of computing-based questions, and points will be awarded points for each correct submission.

FAQs
Are there any pre-requisites to join this programme?
This programme is suitable for kids without prior background or experience in coding.
Does my child need to bring their own laptop/iPad?
By default we will provide laptop for all our students to use in our classes. However you may wish to use your own laptop or tablet for this programme.
Scratch can be accessed through their online application so no software installation is necessary.
Does my child need to create their own Scratch account?
We will guide your child in creating their Scratch account during their first lesson with us. They just need to input either their own email address or your email address. By utilising the Scratch account, your child will be able to access their own game projects at home.
My child has some prior experience with Scratch, can they skip level?
We do not recommend skipping levels even if your child has some prior experience because our programme goes in depth into various programming constructs and game mechanics. With that being said, kids who are older or who have prior experience will be able to progress through the modules much faster and will typically require fewer than 10 sessions to complete each level.
